What is Valentines Day? To most it is a day to give someone something sweet because you: like them, are friends with them, or are in a relationship. It is a way to show that you care/have affection for them. But in elementary school it is a useless holiday. Don't get me wrong I love Valentines day I think its a great idea but the meaning of it is gone when it is celebrated in elementary school. In elementary school everybody gets one from everyone and you have to. You can give one to everybody or no one. What if you want to give one to someone special? What if there is someone you don't necessarily like? If you don't know someone's name for a valentine you obviously don't care about them enough to at least find out their name in advance. I know it sounds like I am making a big deal but I respect Valentines Day and I like it a lot. So when i see the meaning of it go to waste I get a little ranty. Now the meaning of valentines day is:get candy!get candy!GET CANDY!. I mean it is like the second biggest candy collection day for young peoples. My solution is no valentines day party but let kids give 'em out after class. Yes!!! I totally agree! It's totally worthless for kids at elementary school. I know if we didn't have to give out stuff to everyone, there would be that kid in the class that got nothing, but still. I have a great solutions to this "feeling left out" problem : Give out valentines at recess, throw a party for valentines day, or send your valentine to that person through the mail. Plus, if this actually happened, with the "you can give valentines to anyone, and exclude anyone", and you don't get any valentines, I don't mean to sound rude, and I say this in the nicest way possible, it's not my problem.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely because of the fact giving valentine's to everyone is like saying "I love you all so much!" I just don't agree with it at all.
DeleteYeah. if you want to give somebody something special, you can't because there will always be a crybaby that says, "Why didn't you get me one?" and you wan't to say 'because I don't like you." commercial advertising has completley ruined V-day for me bcause i have to give something to everyone. xcuse the spelling and punctuation errors.

DeleteYeah, I agree. It's stupid to give meaningless valentines out to people that are just an acquaintance. Valentine's Day is supposed to celebrate love, not mediocre friendships.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it may be pointless for elementry student but when you get older and start dating it may come in handy. For instance all my brothers asked out a girlriend on Valintines day. And someone at my church proposed on Valintines day. But yes, Valintines day is usless to elementry students.
